Size It Up Game

How to Play Size It Up

New to Size It Up? Here's the whole game in two minutes: what you're looking at, what to drag, and how the points work.

The goal

Match the silhouette to its real-world size. That's the line at the top of the game, and it's the whole idea. You get two shapes on a grid: one you know, and one you have to size.

What's on the screen

The blue shape on the left is the reference. It's drawn at its real size. Under the grid, the game names it, for example "Reference: Apple (fruit) (Height to scale)". The red shape is the target. The label says what it is and what to set, for example "World's heaviest pumpkin (Adjust the length)". At the top you'll see the round (1 of 5) and your score so far.

How to make your guess

Drag the small arrow handle on the red shape. Drag out to make it bigger, in to make it smaller. The + and − buttons on the grid zoom in and out, which helps when the target is much bigger or smaller than the reference. When it looks right, press Lock In.

How scoring works

After you lock in, the game shows three lines: your answer, the real size, and how far off you were in percent. Here's a real round. We had to set the length of the world's heaviest pumpkin, next to an apple. We guessed 0.0863 m (about 9 cm). The real length was 2.04 m. That's off by 96%, and it scored 0 out of 100. Each round is worth up to 100 points, and there are 5 rounds, so a perfect day is 500.

Tips to get closer

Count in references: "how many apples long is it?" is easier than guessing in metres. Read the target's full name. "World's heaviest pumpkin" is a monster, not a normal pumpkin. Check whether it's height or length before you drag. Zoom out first for big things, so both shapes stay on screen.
